Prizes and Awards

During the years 1988 - 1994 the Society organised open Spring Meetings, mainly at the RCS in London, which many hundreds of other dentists attended. Not only did this publicise the Society but it also generated funds which enabled the Society to institute the BSGDS Scholarship to support research in general practice. The first scholarship was awarded in 1993 to Alan McMichael for his study, 'Orthodontic Referral Patterns in General Practice'.

BSGDS Silver Medal
As a tribute to John Reeves, who really got the Society off the ground, and was its first President, a silver medal is awarded annually to the best MGDS candidate.
